Vocational Training
Access to vocational training has been a significant barrier for our community, with facilities located over two hours away. This creates an obstacle that many simply do not have the resources to overcome and takes time away from farming activities that are needed for survival.
What Is:
In July, we began phase 1 of the Olangama Community HUB. After 3 years of collaboration, the community expressed a need to exponentially improve their lives with skills like welding, tailoring, beekeeping, forestry, and advanced gardening to support their children. This free training allows community members to learn new skills while remaining at home to care for their families, providing women their first chance to earn an income independently.
What Is Coming:
A new trading post has recently been completed, sparking excitement for local business ventures. The community is beginning to dream about their future beyond daily survival, fulfilling the vision we had when we started over a decade ago.
